The Frank and Rose Lawson Collection consists of photocopied letters, a photocopied newspaper article, and a biographical sketch of Rose Lawson. The letters were written by Rose Lawson and date from 1946, when she came to Alaska, to 1984. The letters describe life in Fairbanks, the activities of Frank and Rose Lawson and their friends and family, as well as Mrs. Lawson's observations about life in Alaska. Among Mrs. Lawson's observations are comments on teaching in Alaska and on the impact of construction of the Trans-Alaska-Pipeline System.

Rose Lawson was born Rose Jaskoski in 1907 in North Dakota. She earned a B.A. in Education in 1946 and moved to Fairbanks, Alaska that same year to teach 8th grade. She met Frank Lawson in 1946 and they were married in 1947. She began writing to her friends and family in the lower '48 upon arriving in Alaska.
